A Journey of Service, Faith, Entrepreneurship, and Philanthropy: The Life of Zvaringeni Samuel Chasi

Zvaringeni Samuel Chasi was born on 9 January 1988 at Mzilikazi Clinic, located in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and grew up in region Matabeleland. He was raised by a single parent, the late Morina 'Mavhu' Kasipo, a veteran of the liberation struggle known by the pseudonym “Cde Morina Kufakwanguzvarova.”

Despite the challenges of single parenthood, 'Amai Mavhu' instilled in him values of resilience, determination, and service to others. Her legacy of strength and perseverance continues to inspire him in his personal and professional endeavors.

Throughout his life, Chasi has honored his mother's memory by embodying the principles she instilled in him. From his academic achievements to his military service and entrepreneurial pursuits, he has remained committed to making a positive impact on his community and beyond.

In his early years, he grew up as a friend of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attending seminary and institute, inspired by his friends born into the covenant. He was converted and baptized on 12 June 2011.

He remains a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints to the present. Within the religious organization, he has served as a Senior Service Missionary for BYU Pathway Worldwide Service and District Leader as well, where duties typically include facilitating weekly student gatherings, mentoring and encouraging learners, supporting academic progress, assisting with recruitment and awareness of educational opportunities, and helping students develop self-reliance. He has also served as a Temple Worker.

Zvaringeni Samuel Chasi has also served as a Family History Consultant. He has a passion for FamilySearch. He has a strong interest in FamilySearch, enjoys conducting genealogical research, and has worked closely with the National Archives during his military service as a Civil-Military Relations practitioner and other related institutions on family history and archival matters.

In 2005, at the age of 17, he entered the National Youth Service programme at Mt. Darwin’s Border Gezi Training Camp. In 2011, he was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army and undertook training at 3.2 Infantry Battalion,

During his military service he received recognition including Chief of Staff All Comers in 2015 and ZNA Commander Skill at Arms, and participated in the Presidential Shoot.

He also served as a Civil-Military Relations Practitioner within the Ministry of Defence, facilitating professional cooperation and liaison between the Defence Forces and civilian authorities, institutions, and communities. This work supports mutual understanding and helps uphold the principle of civilian control of the armed forces under the Constitution and the rule of law. He resigned from the military in November 2018.

Zvaringeni Samuel Chasi is the Founder and Executive Director of Huckleberry Africa Private Ltd, specialising in agroprocessing, including maize milling and packaging.
